West Coast Swing enthusiasts from across the country will shimmy into Ramada Resort Shoal Bay for a weekend of dance from April 1-3.

More than 100 participants are expected at the annual Swing Escape event, hosted by Newcastle-based partner dancing school, danceVibe.

Swing Escape is a weekend of workshops, competitions and social dances based around West Coast Swing – a partner dance that has evolved to become a popular modern dance form, usually performed to contemporary music. The event will be live streamed on YouTube for audiences across the globe.

Adrian Doczy from danceVibe said Swing Escape was a highlight of the annual West Coast Swing dance calendar.

“We have people coming from across the country – from Western Australia and all capital cities, as well as locals from Newcastle and Port Stephens,” Mr Doczy said.

“US dance champions John Lindo and Jessica Cox will also be attending. This is a really fun, social event and while we have plenty of scheduled activities, we try to ensure everyone will have enough time to get out and enjoy the beautiful Port Stephens region.”

With its ideal beachfront position and excellent conferencing spaces, Ramada Resort Shoal Bay is a popular event venue, attracting more than 50 conferences to the region in 2015.
