Wyndham Vacation Resorts Coffs Harbour’s dedication to environmental sustainability has won them two prestigious accolades at this year’s Coffs Harbour Garden Club Spring Garden Competition.
Wyndham Coffs Harbour was named best overall resort garden and most effective Waterwise property in the industrial, commercial and community category due to the resort team’s extensive work on developing a garden that requires minimal maintenance and water.
The resort garden was developed using mostly native plants and the soil has been specially treated and routinely mulched to improve its quality, which has contributed to the lush gardens spread across the resort grounds.
The resort has a drip feed irrigation system combined with well positioned rainwater tanks capturing water off each of the three buildings roofs. The system also has special irrigation pumps and electronic timers.
Wyndham Coffs Harbour is part of the Wyndham Worldwide group of companies, which has invested in exploring and adopting innovative sustainable practices through its Wyndham Green program.
“I am very proud to receive these two prestigious awards on behalf of the team at Wyndham Coffs Harbour,” said General Manager Gary Collard.
“The resort maintenance staff have worked tirelessly for four years to develop our native gardens, which are located across an impressive three acres and it is fantastic to see their hard work has paid off.”
More than 100 gardeners from various categories entered the competition this year, which was judged from September 13-15.
