For the second consecutive year, Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific has won the Service to the Community Award at the annual Hotel Management Awards for the philanthropic work done by its Wishes by Wyndham program.

The HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence, presented by Sealy Posturepedic, is the leading industry award program in the region and celebrates the best properties, departments, people, chains and brands in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

“Our philanthropic program, Wishes by Wyndham, is a strong testament to Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific’s desire to benefit and contribute to the communities in which it operates,” said Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director, International Operations, Wyndham Vacation Clubs.

“Wishes by Wyndham is not a vehicle for our corporate donations. It is managed by 22 of our passionate staff from the Gold Coast Corporate Centre and supported by staff across our network of timeshare resorts and sales sites who encourage family and friends to donate or contribute personally.

“Since it was formed in 2009, we are proud that our staff – entirely through their own efforts – have raised in excess of AU$400,000, which has touched the lives of numerous children and their families across the South Pacific region.”

Last year, Wishes by Wyndham raised AU$56,814 through initiatives including a workplace giving program, sales of goods during Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, participation in the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, events like the company’s annual trivia night and raffles at special events including the annual end-of-year celebration. The majority of 2018 funds went to the regional operations of Save the Children.

In 2019, Wishes by Wyndham is fundraising for a different cause every quarter. Between January and March, staff contributed to HeartKids, which supports children, teens and families affected by congenital heart disease, while money raised in quarter two went to Camp Quality, a charity devoted to supporting children impacted by cancer through a variety of camps for kids and their families.

With some of the biggest fundraisers in the year still to come, Wishes by Wyndham has so far raised approximately AU$27,000 for the 2019 year.
