June 13, 2017 — In the spirit of World Environment Day, which was celebrated June 5, Grupo Vidanta has reaffirmed its commitment to the environment through events and procedures designed to create awareness with the locals of Banderas Bay in Nayarit.
Protecting and conserving natural resources is a matter of great importance for Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta. That’s why every year they seek to improve their environmental practices and policies through rigorous benchmarks and goals, such as a 2% annual reduction of energy consumption, an increase in the use of efficient technology and biodegradable and reusable products, as well as an increase in the waste recycling rate, which currently represents 40% of all waste the resort produces.
Furthermore, one of the ongoing commitments of Grupo Vidanta is the maintenance and care of the Sea Turtle Sanctuary in Nuevo Vallarta, which has been managed in alliance with SEMARNAT (National Environment and Natural Resources Department).
Continuing on the same path, on this year’s World Environment Day, Grupo Vidanta shared these actions with children who are differently abled from the Multiple Attention Center No. 15 at San José del Valle, in Banderas Bay, Nayarit.
According to Yara Chavarín García, head of the Certification Department at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta, “we visited the school with the goal of talking to children about the importance of the environment and the natural resources that surround us.”
One of the important messages the company communicated to the kids during this visit was the three “R’s” of ecology: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The children, along with their families and Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta employees, then partook in various clean-up and conservation efforts.
Grupo Vidanta used this as an opportunity to support and include the people most in need within this region while sharing with them the company’s corporate values: respect for the planet, respect for the community, and respect for customers. “In-kind donations are important, but donating time is very valuable as well,” said Yara Chavarín.
Thanks to their environmental policies and practices, most Grupo Vidanta resorts have had EarthCheck certification for 15 years. This is the only recognition worldwide that endorses resorts committed to the preservation of the environment, local animal species, and native vegetation.
