Gold Coast-based Resort and Club Management company, Classic Holidays, is shining the spotlight on volunteering during National Volunteer Week with a renewed focus across the organisation on the volunteering efforts of its staff and members.

Taking place from 9 – 15 May, National Volunteer Week – now in its second year – is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers.

“Our company is responsible for the employment of close to 1,000 staff across Australia and New Zealand, and we have a fantastic culture of volunteering already among our employees,” says Mark Stephenson, Chief Commercial Officer at Classic Holidays. “However we’re taking it a step further and introducing company-wide initiatives that support and promote the benefits of volunteering to our staff and our members.”

Along with parent company, Beneficium, Classic Holidays is forging a stronger alliance with long-standing not-for-profit partner, Volunteering Gold Coast, now also operating as Volunteering Services Australia, and will take part in the organisation’s celebrations this week.

Established in 1998, Volunteering Gold Coast is the largest recruitment and referral organisation in Australia, establishing Volunteering Services Australia in early 2015 to raise the profile of volunteering in more communities around the country.

“Classic Holidays has proudly supported Volunteering Gold Coast, and now Volunteering Services Australia, as their charity of choice since 2011,” said Richard Patterson, CEO of Volunteering Gold Coast. “This has enabled us to continue our important work helping place volunteers at organisations such as The Smith Family, Red Cross, RSPCA, Lifeline, Meals on Wheels, Cancer Council and St Vincent De Paul , to name a few.”

As part of the recognition of outstanding volunteers in the community during National Volunteer Week, Classic Holidays will be donating several holiday weeks to reward worthy recipients who give their own time to help others.

The presentations will take place at Volunteering Gold Coast services held this week.
