Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), announced that Abura Development Corporation VBA, an Aruba limited liability company and  subsidiary of Tropicana Entertainment Inc. (“Tropicana”), has selected Interval to serve as its exclusive vacation exchange and benefits provider as it launches timeshare sales at the Tropicana Aruba Resort & Casino. This marks the entrance of Tropicana, a publicly traded gaming industry leader, into the timeshare industry.

“Since completing the resort’s acquisition, our company has embarked on a multi-million dollar renovation program to transform the property, including infrastructure, amenities, and guestroom renovations,” said Anthony P. Rodio, Tropicana’s president and chief executive officer. “Interval is a well-respected name in the timeshare industry and has been a great partner since we entered this new segment of the business. In addition to being an important resource, Interval offers state-of-the-art sales technology and value-added services.”

“We’re very pleased to welcome such a well recognized and respected brand to the industry and look forward to supporting Tropicana’s success for many years to come,” noted David Gilbert, president of Interval International. “Aruba has long been one of the most highly demanded vacation destinations in our network. We know that the significant investment being made at the resort will ensure memorable vacation experiences for Tropicana’s owners and Interval’s members staying at this tropical retreat.”

Property renovations encompass a variety of improvements, including the complete remodeling of a 74-unit building with luxury upgraded appliances and finishes, as well as  upscale tropical décor and bedding. Phase one is scheduled for completion by year end.

Centrally situated just a few miles from the island’s capital Oranjestad with its array of shopping and dining, the resort features a host of amenities, including two restaurants, a boutique casino, a multi-level pool with a 150-foot waterslide, children’s pool, full-service spa, and a fitness center. In total, there are 362 one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites overlooking a landscaped courtyard with two large swimming pools.

An onsite concierge can assist with a wide variety of nearby recreation options, including snorkeling, kayaking, horseback riding, and much more.

Aruba is a Dutch Caribbean island off the coast of Venezuela, known for its dry, sunny weather. The European influence shows in its cuisine, architecture – in which Dutch gables mingle with tropical pastels, and language, with English, Dutch, and Spanish spoken alongside the local tongue, Papiamento. One of its most popular attractions is Arikok National Park, a nature preserve that covers about 20 percent of the island, making it the largest national park in the Caribbean.
