August 1, 2017 – Margaritaville Resort Orlando, the $750 million vacation destination that is currently under development in the heart of Orlando along U.S. Highway 192 near Toll Road 429 in Western Osceola County, has celebrated the groundbreaking of its 187-room hotel.

A festive event took place Thursday, July 27, welcoming more than 250 attendees including Margaritaville executives, representatives from the development company Encore Capital Management, local dignitaries and special guests. The milestone moment was marked with fun and excitement as the project broke ground.

“This is an exciting day for Margaritaville Resort Orlando and sharing great food, drinks and fun is the best way to celebrate breaking ground on our Margaritaville-branded hotel,” said Jim Bagley, project developer of Margaritaville Resort Orlando. “Soon travelers from all over the world can escape to paradise with an unforgettable Margaritaville vacation in the heart of Orlando.”

Throughout the groundbreaking celebration, attendees enjoyed an island-inspired buffet, ice cold LandShark Lager, tropical drinks and entertainment by stilt walkers and steel drummers. There was also a special appearance by Radio Margaritaville’s JD Spradlin who broadcast live from the event. A program of remarks featured John Cohlan, Chief Executive Officer of Margaritaville Holdings, and Bagley.

When it opens in late-2018, the Margaritaville-branded hotel will immediately put guests into a vacation state of mind with some of the brand’s signature décor elements – including a giant flip-flop sculpture and upside-down margarita glass chandelier in the lobby.

The 300-acre Margaritaville Resort Orlando will feature a wide range of amenities including 30,000 square feet of function space, 200,000 square feet of festive retail space, a dining and entertainment district, 12-acre waterpark, wellness center, miles of wooded fitness trails, a water taxi system, and a three-acre swimming area. The development will also boast 1,000 Margaritaville-inspired units including a mix of resort vacation homes, cottages, villas, and timeshare units.
