Jason Gamel Named New President & CEO of ARDA

The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) announced today that Jason Gamel will be the new president and CEO, following an extensive national search lead by executive search firm, Spencer Stuart. In late March, the ARDA executive committee endorsed Gamel as the successful candidate. Gamel brings more than twenty years of experience in the hospitality and timeshare industries, including his current role as senior vice president of legal at Wyndham Destinations.

The U.S. timeshare industry witnessed its eighth consecutive year of growth in 2017, according to the State of the Vacation Timeshare Industry: United States Study 2018 Edition, conducted by EY for the ARDA International Foundation (AIF). Sales volume increased by nearly four percent to $9.6 billion and average occupancy rate was more than 81 percent in 2017.

Hawaii’s timeshare industry contributed an estimated $5.3 billion in consumer and business spending in 2016, according to a recent study conducted by EY for the ARDA International Foundation (AIF) and ARDA-Hawaii. The industry also accounted for 31,727 local jobs, $1.8 billion in labor income and $263 million in state and local tax revenue.
