David R Clifton is responsible for implementing new business development activities for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. These responsibilities include affiliating resorts with Interval’s global network, developing and directing significant sales and resort marketing strategies, as well as managing key developer client relationships.
Clifton has spent almost three decades in the Shared Ownership industry, over 15 of these as a developer, marketer and property manager of mixed-use timeshare properties, always focusing on brand-building and member satisfaction. During his career he has played an active role in all aspects of timeshare development including resort design, construction, project and consumer financing, sales and marketing, systems development and managing the completed resorts. He also has extensive experience in Shared Ownership, club programme design, setting up back-room servicing operations, assisting governments in drafting and adopting prudent regulations for the industry and establishing and participating in industry trade associations.
Previously, Clifton was Executive Director of Hilton Grand Vacations Company, where he had overall responsibility for sales and marketing and profitability for Hilton’s initial entry into the timeshare industry in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to that, he was Managing General Partner of Welk Park North and responsible for all aspects of the timeshare operation in California and Hawaii.
Clifton is a past committed member of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and sat on WTTC’s China Steering Committee. This Committee and WTTC focused on analysing the current state of the tourism industry in China and provided the Chinese government, business leaders and the media with detailed recommendations on how their country can take full advantage of its tourism potential. Clifton is also an active participant in the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) and is a frequent speaker at hotel, timeshare and tourism conferences throughout the world.
Clifton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Masters in Business Administration from San José State University in San José, California.
