As Chief Operating Officer, Mark is responsible for the acquisition, design, development, operations and marketing of all CFI corporate and Westgate Resorts properties. In addition, he oversees the sales and marketing of Westgate’s exclusive whole-ownership properties. Mark has had a very diverse range of experiences, including corporate leadership, sales, marketing, real estate development, project acquisitions, construction, resort operations, asset management, procurement services, information technology and human resources. Mark also leads the development and operation of all non-resort projects, including commercial office space, apartment complexes, and land development. In addition to their resort properties, Mark leads the development and operations of a variety of restaurant concepts, retail shops and destination health spas under the brand, “Serenity Spa by Westgate.”

Mark is also responsible for the continued evolution of the Westgate brand into an experience-based, destination resort company. He is recognized as an industry leader in the development and operation of themed destination resorts. As part of this effort, Mark is responsible for the customer experience measurement system that provides the analysis, process improvement, and training necessary for the continuous process improvement of every aspect of Westgate’s guest experience.

Mark has a remarkable and diverse career that includes working in the space launch industry where he helped develop the launch facilities for the Atlas commercial satellite program and was an engineer on the launch team for 12 commercial space launches. Mark also served 20 years in the United States Air Force, where he specialized in program management and business reengineering. Prior to joining Westgate, Mark was with Computer Sciences Raytheon, where he developed project management programs for the development of the infrastructure for the Kennedy Space Center. Mark joined Westgate Resorts in June of 1996.

Graduating with special honors, Mark completed his Bachelor and Masters of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado. He was elected to the National Honor Society for Engineers and the National Honor Society for Aerospace Engineers.

Mark is on the Board of Directors for both the Westgate Resorts Foundation He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the American Resort Developers Association (ARDA). Mark has previously served as a board member of the Florida Special Olympics and the National Advisory Board of the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
