Magnus Lewin is CEO and co-founder of The TradeWinds Group. He was part of the group of adventurers who started TradeWinds Cruise Club back in the late nineties, dedicated to making luxury all inclusive sailing experiences more accessible and affordable through the world’s first crewed yacht charter fleet to be sold under a Club system.

Originally from Sweden, his sailing career started at the age of 10 in the city’s surrounding islands, and he later began his professional career in the hospitality and tourism sector with Group Pestana, Portugal’s largest leisure and Hotel Company, where he worked as Sales Manager for 10 years.

In 1989, he also started his first company, specializing in consultancy services to the vacation ownership and hotel industry. Thereafter, Magnus conceived the idea for TradeWinds Cruise Club in the mid-nineties, with a dream of operating sailing vacations much like small luxury hotels.

He envisioned catamarans with professional staff, first-class cuisine and the utmost attention to service and details. To date, The TradeWinds Group has since welcomed over 35,000 passengers aboard their vessels based at eleven destinations worldwide, covering the Caribbean, Central America and the Mediterranean Sea.

In the years to come, he foresees more and more exotic destinations added to their itineraries, commenting: “My future vision for the TradeWinds Group is to continue to expand our portfolio and offer superior sailing experiences onboard a new line of luxury catamarans in some of the world’s finest cruising destinations, offered both as Memberships in our Club TradeWinds Experience, as well as on a fractional basis”.
