Company Overview
CRDA is an industry-based association that is dedicated to furthering the ownership-based resort and leisure industry, both at home and abroad. It was founded over 28 years ago as “the Resort Timesharing Council of Canada” in response to the public’s insatiable demand for more information about typical “fee simple” (or “deeded”) timeshare products.
With the advent of various creative and flexible leisure products (such as “points” based programs, “floating time, floating space” systems, multi-destination vacation clubs, fractional ownership resorts, equity participation projects and condo hotels), CRDA has evolved to become the pre-eminent industry association responsible for overseeing all forms of Shared Ownership in Canada. Most recently, the Association has expanded internationally as developers in the rest of North America seek CRDA’s endorsement and credibility; an affiliation that has proven itself invaluable when presenting their programs to affluent, qualified Canadian prospects.
The goals of the Association are to encourage and maintain a high standard of ethical conduct throughout the industry, and to assist in the education of Canadian industry members toward an enhanced standard of professionalism. CRDA also assists consumers by providing information about our products, programs and Member companies, and by adjudicating consumer complaints that indicate failure by members or non-members to respect CRDA’s “Code of Standards and Ethics” and its objectives.
CRDA has successfully consulted to governments at all levels (Federal, Provincial and Municipal), and has been extremely instrumental in working with them to ensure the drafting of fair and equitable operational, taxation and protection policies that govern both association members and their consumers.
CRDA is also one of the original signatories to “GATE” (The Global Alliance for Timeshare Excellence), a multinational organization dedicated to furthering our industry and establishing reasonable legislation in territories throughout the world, and we are active contributors to (and Members of) the American Resort Development Association (ARDA).
The Association is governed by an elected Board of Directors and a bi-annually elected Chairman, and a full-time Executive Director has been secured to ensure that the organization continues to function at its peak capability. We also regularly host stimulating conferences, symposiums and committee meetings that encourage highly effective networking, education and problem solving among all members of the organization.
