Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director of Gold Coast based hospitality giant Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific and Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia and Pacific Rim, took home a prestigious industry gong at the CEO Magazine Executive of the Year Awards at Crown Melbourne last night.

Mr Robinson beat executives from Accor, KFC and The Langham Melbourne to be named the winner in the Hospitality and Tourism Executive of the Year category.

The Executive of the Year Awards is Australia’s most prestigious awards night for the corporate sector, recognising the individual excellence of high-level executives nationwide. The awards focus on the success of individuals who make their corporations tick and the contributions they have made to their companies.

“I am honoured to have been recognised among a field of this calibre as a leader in the hospitality and tourism industry,” Mr Robinson said. “2015 has been a year of many milestones for our company, with Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific celebrating its 15-year anniversary alongside the significant expansion of Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia and Pacific Rim into several new territories including Myanmar and Vietnam. I am truly passionate about the hospitality industry and ensuring we maintain our culture of service excellence here at Wyndham, so this recognition is really gratifying.”

Mr Robinson has more than 30 years’ hospitality experience and has been President and Managing Director of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, the South Pacific’s largest timeshare company with 26 resorts and more than 50,000 vacation owners, since September 2003. He is also responsible for more than 80 hotels across 15 countries and five hotel brands in Wyndham Hotel Group’s growing portfolio.

Wyndham has grown to be one of the Gold Coast’s largest private employers with more than 640 staff based at the Wyndham Corporate Centre in Bundall and across three Gold Coast resorts. The company employs more than 2,000 staff across the South Pacific.
