As we start a new year and a new decade, it’s customary to look both forward and back. Looking back, we see great change that occurred during the “naughts” (or whatever we decide to call the 2000 to 2009 decade). It was during the naughts that technology made exponential leaps. Many of these advances have greatly affected the shared ownership industry, such as the virtual dominance of the Internet. Some technological advances, though, aren’t necessarily viewed as directly affecting our industry – one example of this being the evolution from cell phone to smart phone to app phone. But as William J. Brown points out in the feature, Does Your Shared Ownership Company Need an ‘App Strategy’?, companies that ignore this new trend ultimately risk falling behind and losing critical market share.
