Today, in honor of Hilton Worldwide’s first Global Week of Service, November 11 – 18, more than 125 volunteers from Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) will be lending a helping hand with numerous grounds and living improvement projects at the William R. Just Center for Drug-Free Living Inc. Hilton Worldwide’s Global Week of Service is a celebration of the company’s year-round commitment to volunteerism, and Hilton Grand Vacations’ efforts are a part of a week-long event involving extensive volunteer projects and signature events occurring around the world.
“We are so pleased to partner with Hands-On Orlando at the William R. Just Center as we strive to positively impact the lives of our neighbors in need through this signature volunteer event,” said Mark Wang president of global sales and Hilton Grand Vacations. “Service is at the heart of our business, and today, our team members will serve the community where we live and work by spreading the light and warmth of Hilton hospitality. We are especially proud that our efforts will benefit the many veterans who are offered essential support through this Center.”[member]
The mission of the William R. Just Center for Drug-Free Living is to “Promote Healthy Responsible Lifestyles”, providing prevention, intervention and treatment to individuals and families coping with substance use and mental health disorders, juvenile delinquency, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and other behavioral health issues.
HGV team members will be working in nine teams to complete projects that range from planting a Victory Garden, creating a central recreation area and assembling play and exercise equipment; to painting resident cottages, offering tutoring support to residents, and creating activity and craft kits.
“Our goal is to enhance the Center’s commitment to provide an inviting, comfortable and healing environment for its residents and their families. This organization truly embraces its mission, and Hilton Grand Vacations will do its part to support the Center’s positive impact in our community,” said Neil Peraza, vice president – resort operations business management and HGV Community Champion. “So many of our guests and owners consider Hilton Grand Vacations properties a home away from home – so it’s a natural extension of Hilton hospitality that our team members are here improving the residential environment for the veterans and other clients who call the Center for Drug free Living home,”
Hilton Worldwide’s Global Week of Service is a celebration of the company’s year-round commitment to volunteer service and is an expression of the company’s vision to “fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality,” building on founder Conrad N. Hilton’s legacy of service and responsibility to others. The company’s largest annual volunteer service event brings together team members from all of Hilton Worldwide’s operating communities to apply their hospitality and service expertise to the most pressing societal needs.
“Every day, Hilton Worldwide team members dedicate their time, talents and energy to provide hospitality to millions of hotel guests around the world, and our Global Week of Service and other volunteer activities allow us to extend the same spirit of hospitality to the individuals and communities beyond our hotel walls,” said Christopher J. Nassetta, president and chief executive officer, Hilton Worldwide. “Just as exceptional service is fundamental to creating memorable and lasting guest experiences, volunteerism is critical to building a strong corporate culture, strengthening our communities and supporting our global growth.”
During Global Week of Service, Team Members will be encouraged to share their personal stories of service and hospitality through a variety of channels. Photos and stories from Hilton Worldwide’s Global Week of Service events will be posted at www.hiltonworldwide.com/serve, on the Hilton Worldwide Facebook page and on the @HiltonWorldwide Twitter account throughout the week.
The first annual Global Week of Service is just one example of how Hilton Worldwide engages Team Members to meet societal challenges. Launched in 2011, Travel with Purpose is Hilton Worldwide’s global commitment to provide shared value to its business and communities in four areas – creating opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential; strengthening communities where Hilton Worldwide operates; celebrating cultures and the power of travel; and living sustainably through the measurement, analysis and improvement of the company’s use of natural resources.
