Bluegreen Corporation (NYSE: BXG), a leading provider of Colorful Places to Live and Play, today announced that its Missouri timeshare resorts–Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar, The Cliffs at Long Creek and Paradise Point–have come together to contribute supplies and monetary donations to Joplin Tornado Relief in order to assist tornado victims in nearby Joplin, Missouri after the EF-5 tornado that struck the city of 50,000 people on Sunday, May 22, 2011. Bluegreen’s Missouri resorts are located two hours from Joplin, in Branson and Ridgedale, Missouri.
“Many of our owners, guests, vendors and suppliers live in Joplin,” explains Becca VonderMehden, Assistant Resort Manager at Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar. “They have lost nearly everything–their homes, automobiles, possessions, jobs and businesses. Thousands of innocent victims are now homeless and in need of life’s necessities like water, food, toiletries, flashlights, tools, money and more.”[member]
Each of Bluegreen’s Missouri timeshare resorts have established collection points where associates, guests, Bluegreen owners and area residents can contribute supplies and make monetary donations. On Thursday, May 26, 2011, these Bluegreen resorts used a shuttle bus as a transport vehicle to deliver the supplies to Joplin residents. Monetary donations are still being collected through the American Red Cross as designated funds for Joplin Tornado Relief.
Additionally, Bluegreen’s headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida donated the proceeds of their monthly raffle to the American Red Cross for the relief efforts.
