Uptown Orlando – A New Trend for Timeshare?

July 6, 2010

Marriott’s Lakeshore Reserve Celebrates Grand Opening at Grande Lakes Orlando, Perhaps Signifying the Start of a Luxury Trend for Shared Ownership in Central Florida

The opening of Marriott’s Lakeshore Reserve at Grande Lakes is part of a trend toward the upscale in Orlando, which previously had not been known for luxury accommodations. The new Marriott Vacation Club offerings are part of the larger Grande Lakes Orlando, a development of 500+ acres containing The Ritz-Carlton Orlando and JW Marriott
Orlando hotels.

Grande Lakes is part of a larger trend toward attracting upscale vacationers to Central Florida; another recent addition to the area is the Waldorf Astoria Orlando, the first Waldorf Astoria to be built outside the flagship property in New York City.

In the past, most hotel offerings in Orlando, especially those targeting pleasure travelers, had not skewed as upmarket, with few exceptions.

Marriott International, Inc.’s Marriott Vacation Club is a natural fit into its luxury surroundings. Marriott’s Lakeshore Reserve at Grande Lakes is located on the pristine grounds of Grande Lakes Orlando, at 11248 Lakeshore Reserve Drive, the resort is the first-ever Marriott Vacation Club property to be co-located with a JW Marriott and The  Ritz-Carlton. The resort officially welcomed its first Owners and guests on June 4.
