Wyndham Announces Sponsorship Of Central Coast Grom Logan Steinwede

Hospitality giant Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific is backing the future of Australian surfing with the signing of a sponsorship agreement with Central Coast grommet Logan Steinwede.

The 12-year-old Wagstaffe local is one of Australia’s rising stars for his age and most recently took out the hotly contested 12 & Under boys division at the Rip Curl GromSearch in Western Australia.

Coached by ex-pro surfer Amee Donohoe from Central Coast Surf Academy, Logan competes in up to 40 events a year and has built up a strong social media presence on his quest towards the professional circuit.

A passionate surfer himself, Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific President and Managing Director Barry Robinson said Logan’s positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to being the best was a perfect fit for the company.

“We are proud to have teamed up with Logan and can’t wait to see where his surfing career takes him,” Barry said. “Logan is an exciting surfing talent and it is important we nurture kids like him to ensure Australia remains at the top of the world surfing game.”

Logan, who is also sponsored by Rip Curl, said the sponsorship agreement with Wyndham would help with the amount of travel required to compete against others trying to make the big time.

“Surfing is my life and my dream is to be the world champion,” Logan said. “I’m so grateful Wyndham is on board to help me get there.”

The sponsorship deal was announced at the Brisbane Airport and Wyndham Resorts Corporate Surf Challenge at Duranbah Beach on the New South Wales-Queensland border on Friday, which Logan participated in alongside seven-time world champion and Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Ambassador Layne Beachley.

One of the country’s most popular annual corporate events, the surf challenge attracted 88 competitors across 16 teams in 2015 and raised in excess of $25,000 for the FSHD Global Research Foundation, an Australian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to finding a treatment and cure for Facioscapulohumeral Dystrophy (FSHD).
