Governor of Hawaii Awards Volcano House with 2015 Green Business Award

Aqua Hotels and Resorts is proud to announce that Volcano House was recognized for outstanding conservation efforts by the state of Hawaii with the 2015 Green Business Award. The award, which recognizes local businesses for environmental efficiency, was presented by Governor David Ige and hosted by the Hawaii State Energy Office of the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT), Department of Health and the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii. Elizabeth Churchill, chief revenue officer of Aqua-Aston Hospitality, said the implementation of sustainable practices is an important priority for Hawaii’s most historic hotel. “Volcano House is situated  in an environmentally sensitive location in Volcanoes National Park on the edge of Kilauea Caldera in an area that was designated an International Biosphere Reserve in 1980 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987,” said Churchill. “Given its very special surroundings, the hotel naturally adopted eco-tourism.”
