Company doubles Sunscape Resorts & Spas footprint with new resort
Apple Leisure Group® subsidiary, AMResorts®, announces the addition of Sunscape® Puerto Plata to its resort management portfolio. Sunscape Puerto Plata is the latest resort signed in a record-breaking year for the leading hospitality company. Averaging one resort signing every two weeks, never before has a single hotel chain managed to incorporate in the Caribbean and Central America 17 hotels in less than 12 months. Based on signed contracts to-date, AMResorts will have 57 resorts in 26 destinations throughout eight different countries by the end of 2018.

The former Barceló Puerto Plata closed on Nov. 2, 2015 to begin extensive renovations to incorporate Sunscape’s brand standards. Once re-opened as Sunscape Puerto Plata in early 2016, guests will experience the convenience of Unlimited-Fun® – where everything is included – paired with a vibrant atmosphere that promotes a stress-free, family-friendly experience.

The 585-room resort, located on the northern coast of Playa Dorada, offers exquisite views of the fine sand and clear waters of the Dominican Republic’s Golden Beach. The resort’s culinary options under the Unlimited-Fun®program will include eight restaurants and bars with no reservations required so guests can truly relax and have fun while enjoying the resort’s authentic Caribbean ambience. The property, located 11 miles away from the International Gregorio Luperón Airport and 42 miles from the Del Cibao International Airport in Santiago de los Caballeros, is surrounded by an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course and is a short ten-minute drive from downtown Puerto Plata.

Additional Sunscape branded properties currently open to the public include Sunscape Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa, Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino, and Sunscape Sabor Cozumel, with Sunscape Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa opening on Dec. 1, 2015, followed by Sunscape Cove Montego Bay and Sunscape Splash Montego Bay opening on Dec. 23, 2015.
